CBD hemp oil comes from the cannabis plant, so it’s only natural to learn that it all starts with a farm. But it wasn’t always that. It wasn’t until the Agriculture Improvement Act of 2018 (otherwise known as the Farm Bill) that people could grow the hemp plant for CBD. To understand the entire process, we have to start with the basics.

Hemp is a part of the Cannabis Sativa plant species. Despite this similarity, marijuana and hemp are very different. And it all comes down to biology.

Hemp vs. Marijuana

While marijuana will give you that well-known “high” feeling, hemp and CBD will not. There is not enough THC, tetrahydrocannabinol, in it to do that. Even if you ingested an obscene amount, you would likely not feel “high”. To put it into perspective, the cannabis plant contains between five and thirty percent THC. The hemp plants pale in comparison, boasting 0.3%. Hemp plants also do not grow the buds that marijuana plants are known for. Learn more about CBD oil myths in our information rich blog.

Throughout US history up until the Farm Act, hemp was widely used for clothing. People would also consume the seeds for nutritional benefits. But now, hemp plants are also used for the cultivation of CBD hemp oil products.

It may seem as simple as watering a plant and placing it in the sun, but there really is much more that goes into it. There needs to be a specific amount of cannabidiol for the end products to be made from the hemp plant. You also want to be sure not to cross into a higher THC level. The point of CBD is to reap some of the benefits of marijuana without worrying about that “high” feeling.

Our Secret to the Best Products

At Superior, we ensure all of our products are all-natural, so our customers know what they are ingesting. When we extract the CBD, we do so without harsh chemicals. Some companies choose to use poisonous chemicals like butane, propane, and hexane. We do not do this to keep our CBD oil products and creams as pure as possible. We also do lab tests to ensure our formula and products are of the highest available quality.

We also have an outstanding and highly knowledgeable customer service team who can answer any questions you might have about our extraction and lab testing processes. We are open with our customers about their CBD through every step of the formulation.
